Mr. Lance J. Finley is a successful performing musician , instructor , arranger and adjudicator in the greater Houston area. He has had the privilege of studying percussion under Scott Harris while pursuing his music education degree at Stephen F. Austin State University.
Mr. Finley currently serves as the percussion specialist for NISD. Mr. Finley is in charge of the percussion programs at NHS (marching drum line and percussion ensemble), NJHS (honors and symphonic band percussion sections) and NMS (beginning percussion and general music education).
Mr. Finley has performed with a very diverse group of ensembles. His performance credits include: SFA Wind Ensemble, SFA Symphonic Band, SFA Percussion Ensemble, SFA Steel Band, Swingin' Axes Jazz Ensemble, Swingin' Aces Jazz Band, Orchestra of the Pines, the Roarin' Buzzaws Pep Band, Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church (Richmond), Live Oak Missionary Baptist Church (Nacogdoches) as well as numerous session gigs and guest appearances with the Brian Best Quartet and Abundant Life Cathedral Church (Houston, TX). Lance currently serves as the Percussion Specialist at New Faith Baptist Church N.E.(Houston, TX). His professional affiliations include the Texas Music Educators Association, the Texas Bandmasters Association and the Percussive Arts Society. Mr. Finley currently serves as a educational team member and endorser for Vic Firth Drumsticks. |
