After seven years in the oil industry, I began my teaching career at Needville High School. I am now in my twenty-second year at NHS. I have continued my own education by participating in a variety of workshops, projects, and conferences, such as the following: The American Idea Workshop, Common Ground--The Houston Experiment, Lamar Writing Project (New Jersey Writing Project in Texas), and Intel Teach to the Future. I have been nominated to Who's Who Among America's Teachers three times, the most recent in 2005, and received the Duke Energy Master Teacher Award in 1997. In 2006 I was named to the National Honor Roll of Teachers and in 2007 selected as an All American Teacher. I am currently a member of ATPE (Association of Texas Public Educators) and ILPC (Interscholastic League Press Conference).
