2008-2009 Semester Exam Exemption Policy |
Exemption Policy
I. Semester exam exemptions must meet the following criteria:
1) Grade/Absence requirements-
a. Grade of 75 and no absences
b. Grade of 80 and 1 absence
c. Grade of 85 and 2 absences
d. Grade of 90 and 3 absences
2) No more than one ISS assignment (length can not exceed 2 days)
3) No suspensions or AEP assignments for the year
4) No outstanding fines or fees
5) Dual Credit and Concurrent Enrollment classes are not covered by this policy.
6) This policy applies to both semester and full year classes.
7) Seniors can be exempt from both fall and spring exams. Underclassmen can be exempt from spring exams only.
8) Students must be enrolled by Sept. 15 (Fall-Seniors) and Feb. 1 (Spring).
9) Exemptions will be posted by Monday, Dec. 15 (Fall) and Monday, June 1 (Spring).
10) Minimum grade and absence requirements range from the start of each semester to December 12th for the Fall semester and May 29th for the Spring semester.
II. Student Classification Guidelines
1. Seniors-
A. Eligible to graduate in May 2009
B. Can Earn exemptions in all classes taken
C. Passed all parts of TAKS.
2. Juniors- (Spring only)
A. Can be exempt in English, Math, Science, and Social Studies, 1 Elective class [student choice; to be exempt in this elective class the student must have passed all 4 parts of the TAKS test for the 11th grade].
B. Must have passed corresponding TAKS test.
3. Sophomores- (Spring only)
A. Can be exempt from English, Math, Science, and Social Studies
B. Must have passed corresponding TAKS test.
4. Freshman- (Spring only)
A. Can be exempt from English and Math
B. Must have passed corresponding TAKS test.
Example- Sophomore passes English, Math, and Science TAKS tests, but fails Social Studies test. Student can be exempt from English, Math, Science exams, but must take the Social Studies semester exam. |

Any student that misses the scheduled exam date due to illness will not be allowed to make up his/her test during other testing times. Make up times will be Friday, December 19 at 1:00 PM for the first semester and Friday, June 5 at 1:00 PM for the second semester. If the last exam day or more than one exam day is missed, the student will be required to make up his/her exam on January 5, 2009 at 8:00 AM for the first semester and Monday June 8, 2009 at 8:00 AM for the second semester.
Exams will not be given early for any reason. |
